Fanny Monnet ⎮piano teacher
Fanny was born in Valais in 1996. She started playing the piano at an early age and entered the conservatory when she was 7. She got her cantonal certificate, succeeding brilliantly with honours. In June 2015, she completed her pre-vocational studies, with the Russian teacher Serguei Milstein, at the Conservatory of Geneva. She won the “Louis Hiltbrand special prize” for the best piano certificate in the pre-vocational sector. Fanny started professional classes with Nelson Goerner at the High School of Music in Geneva. She won the “Prix Maurice d’Espine” for the best Bachelor of the School with the highest mark and was selected for the “Master Soloist”.
In 2011 she won the overall first prize in the Cantonal Conservatory of Sion Bach competition for her age group, then the "Grand Prix Bach" in the final, irrespective of instrument and age. In addition she won a special prize: a scholarship for a week of master classes at the Tibor Varga Summer Academy in Sion.
2013 was a very rewarding year for Fanny. She took part in several competitions; the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Geneva competition, the "Entrada" for Swiss youth competition and the Swiss final in Bern, for all of which she got 1st prize with honours. One of these prizes enabled her to develop her talents further. She was invited to spend about ten days at the Weidenkam Castle in Germany in the company other talented musicians from various countries and take master classes with Hans-Jürg Strub.
Fanny participated in the Amateur Chamber Music Week at the 20th Verbier Festival, and she also participed in the new project “Reaching out” of the Verbier Festival.
Then she had the chance to take part in the "Ship of Tolerance" project. This led her to perform in Moscow and New York in the company of young Russian, American and Cuban musicians and artists.
In September 2013, Fanny played at the Metropole Hall in Lausanne accompanied by the OCGL (Orchestre des Collèges et Gymnases Lausannois) where she was the soloist in Beethoven’s Concerto No. 3. She then rejoined the musicians in the orchestra and played the remainder of the concert on her violin.
In recent years, she has studied with several renowned teachers such as: Lylia Zilberstein, Michiko Tsuda, Kirill Gerstein, Clifton Matthews, Nelson Goerner, Hans-Jürg Strub, Vladimir Tropp, Willem Brons, Joaquin Achucarro, Krzystof Jablonski, Gabor Takács-Nagy ...
In the summer of 2015, she gave a recital for the association which supports her, « Les amis de Fanny », at the Combins hall in Verbier.
Fanny went to Russia for ten days in 2014 and 2015 for the 8th and 9th International Ruza Intrnational Piano Festival, where, among other things, she took masterclasses with Maria Gambarian and played before an enthusiastic Russian audience.
Fanny has won numerous first prizes at various competitions, one of the greatest being at the musical interpretation contest run by the Giuliana and Giorgio Stefanini Foundation in Geneva where she was urged to continue her studies (2015).
In February 2016, she played a programm in Paris for the radio “France Musique”, named “Génération Jeunes Interprètes”, presented by Gaëlle Legallic.
During the summer (2016), she participated to the International Holland Music Session for one week of lessons with Matti Raekallio, and gave a recital in Bergen (Holland).
She was also invited by the festival “Les folles Journées J.S.Bach” in Switzerland and played Mendelssohn double concerto, and Bach concerto in f minor. (May 2016).
During the year 2017, she was in final of the International Piano Competition Adilia Alieva, and also finalist in Concours d’Interprétation Musicale de Lausanne. She participed at international masterclasses to improve her artistic level of playing; Internationel Summer Academy in Vienna with Lilya Zilbertstein and Markus Schirmer (during summer 2017), and The International Holland Music Session with Mikhail Voskresensky.
She played concert with the Quatuor Debussy last summer, playing Schumann Quintett for « Beaulieu Festival » near Monaco. She also went in Argentina to obtain honors from the Jury at the Second International piano competition Tucuman.
Fanny is also learning the violin by herself, and plays currently in amateur orchestras. She is now in the first violins of “Orchestre de St-Maurice” and played trio in the violin, and others chamber music pieces for fun. Other things are fulfilling her life with passion, like yoga, painting, and going to heavy metal concerts.
