The Viola

The viola is part of the family of bowed string instruments. Big brother of the violin, it is bigger, thicker, and has strings with a lower tone, the same strings as the cello. In a string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello), the viola holds the same place as the tenor in a vocal ensemble (soprano, viola, tenor and bass). The viola is distinguished by a warm and bewitching sound. It is possible to start the viola at the same age as the violin.
