The Violin

The violin, over 400 years old, is an instrument from the bowed string family. Made primarily of maple and spruce, the violin is used with the bow, the latter made of pernambuco wood and horsehair. The violin is the string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello) instrument with the highest range. The violin is used for all kinds of music, from baroque music to jazz, including traditional and popular music. One can consider starting the study of the violin from the age of, more or less, 5 years old.
